Lara Christine Von Seelen, professionally known as Lara Spencer, is an American television presenter and producer. Spencer has hosted several news channels and magazines for the entirety of her career.

She was born on June 19, 1969, in the upstate New York suburbs of Garden City, Long Island. Lara has been a bona fide golden child since she was young; she was a scholar athlete at the Pennsylvania State University.

Spencer proved herself worthy of the scholarship for ranking nationally after competing in springform and platform diving competitions during her collegiate years. Before graduating with a journalism degree, she was reigned as an All-American Athlete by her university in 1991.

After college, she did volunteer work for senior journalists upon attending the NBC page program to gain experience as a neophyte in journalism. After her supposed internship, she landed a job in the CBS sub-sectional channel WDEF–TV. She was recognized as a “one-man band” for simultaneously working as a reporter, producer, editor, photographer, and news van driver.

Her most significant career breakthrough was when she covered the unfortunate TWA Flight 800 crash in 1996. This had put her out on the map as a sought-after news correspondent.

Lara is best recognized as a co-anchor in Good Morning America, along with her affiliation with ABC — she has also served as a news correspondent for Nightline and ABC News. From 2004 to 2011, she also hosted for the entertainment magazine The Insider and regularly appeared as a sub-host for The Early Show, both shows of which are her collaboration with CBS.

In 2011, she began to venture into producing. Spencer created and directed “It’s Worth What?” which aired on NBC’s summer 2011 show. Lara used her passion for interior designing as her primary aspiration for her collaboration with HGTV, resulting in a one-hour special called I Brake for Yard Sale broadcast in April 2012.

In April 2018, Lara announced that she would only be appearing on Good Morning America thrice a week to further focus on her interest in producing.
