Rex Ashley Ryan, commonly known as Rex Ryan, is a former football coach and analyst from the USA. In the National Football League, he was the previous head coach of both the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills.
In addition, Rex has held other coaching jobs with eight other NFL and collegiate teams. Ryan had a dream since he was a child to one day take over his father’s position as a head coach in the professional football league.
After having spent most of his childhood in Canada, he moved back to the United States when he was a teenager and enrolled at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He graduated with a degree in political science.

It’s Coach Rex, who’s about to start his fourth year as the head coach of the Jets and who’s been getting all the press recently. The brash coach is no stranger to controversy, as evidenced by the bleep-filled press conferences and the bulletin-board brags; however, this time, it is not his largemouth but rather the large waist size that is drawing attention to him.
This is the new and improved version of Rex Ryan, who used to be overweight and weighed a maximum of 348 pounds before undergoing weight loss surgery. He has now lost more than 100 pounds and is now much thinner. Ryan has been consistently losing weight for over two years, but he is only opening up now after reaching a significant milestone in his journey.
Rex Ryan’s Weight Loss Surgery
In the year 2010, Rex underwent a procedure known as adjustable gastric band surgery in order to lose weight. It is a surgical procedure that is used to treat obesity.
Because the technique causes the stomach to contract, it causes a person to feel full on a smaller amount of food than they would typically require. These kinds of procedures are together referred to as bariatric surgery.

During an interview, Rex stated that he has tried a million different diets and that a few of them have been successful for him. Sadly, he wouldn’t be able to keep the weight off and would quickly put it back on.
Unfortunately, the coach has not revealed the specifics of his diet. Still, in order for Rex to keep the weight off after having surgery to modify the size of his gastric band, he must have consumed nutritious foods such as vegetables and meats with lower fat content.
